A wedding · shot on location
| Time | Scene | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 5:00 | Doors open | Come straight from work — that's why we started late. Park, grab a drink, find a seat. |
| 5:30 | Ceremony | Outdoors among the vines. Roughly 25 minutes. Phones down, please — we've hired the good cameras. |
| 6:00 | Cocktail hour | Bourgmont wines and cocktails, with a mariachi playing. |
| 7:00 | Reception | Stations open, toasts, first dance. No assigned seats and no waiting for a plate — graze, wander, come back for seconds. |
| 8:30 | Dance floor | DJ or band name — and, if it comes together, a few Beatles songs from Emily's family band. Requests taken on the RSVP form. |
| 10:30 | Last call | Bar closes. Rideshares run thin out here, so line up your ride before this. |
| 11:00 | That's a wrap | Send-off. After-party location, if there is one. |
Times are approximate and may shift on the day. Sunset in Bucyrus on April 30 lands a little after 8 PM — we planned the ceremony for the good light.
We're skipping the seated dinner. Instead the evening runs like a good set lunch: several stations, open for hours, nobody stuck at table 14 waiting on a plate.
There will be plenty of food — it just won't arrive in courses at an assigned seat. Come hungry, eat when you want to, and go back as many times as you like. We'll post the actual menu here once it's locked.
Tell us about allergies or dietary needs on the RSVP form and we'll make sure there's a clearly labeled option for you.
Bourgmont Winery
20299 Quivira Rd
Bucyrus, KS 66013
About 35–45 minutes south of downtown Kansas City and roughly 20 minutes from Overland Park. It's a working vineyard on a country road — put the address in your maps before you lose signal, and give yourself a few extra minutes.
Free on-site parking. Confirm with the venue whether cars can be left overnight, and note it here.
Uber and Lyft are unreliable this far out, especially after 10 PM. Plan a designated driver, share a ride from your hotel, or book a car in advance:
Showtime Transportation · (816) 295-2000
Overland Chauffeured · (913) 381-3504
Agenda USA · (913) 268-4466
All three are in Overland Park, roughly 20–25 minutes from the winery. Add the booking link and block code under each once you've called.
Historically anywhere from 45° to 80°F, and it can swing between those in a single day. The ceremony is outdoors on grass — bring a layer for after sunset, and consider block heels or flats over stilettos.
Flying in? Kansas City International (MCI) is about an hour north of the venue. Renting a car is the easy call.
Garden formal: suits, jumpsuits, midi or long dresses. Bright color is welcome — look at the palette on this page and lean in. Skip stilettos; it's grass and gravel.
It's a Friday and most of you work. A 5:30 ceremony means you can finish your day, drive down, and still make it — and it puts the whole party in the best light of the evening.
There's plenty of food. It just isn't served in courses at an assigned seat. Stations open at 7:00 and stay open — eat when you're hungry, sit wherever you like, go back as often as you want.
If your invitation was addressed to you and a guest, yes. If it wasn't, we hope you understand.
Pick one: "Yes — bring them, there's a lawn to run on." / "We love your kids, but this one is adults only."
We'd love it if you didn't. We both work in film, so we've hired people we trust, and we'd rather see your faces than your phones. Everything after the ceremony — cocktails, stations, dance floor — shoot away.
Tell us on the RSVP form. Every station will have a labeled option and the caterer will know your name.
Last call is 10:30 and we're out by 11:00 — the venue closes at midnight. Plan your ride accordingly.
Name of a friend, family member, or day-of coordinator is our point person — email. Please don't text the two of us on the 30th; we'll be busy getting married.
Your being there is the gift. If you'd like to do more, we've kept it simple.
